Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
Common Clickbait ("we," "us") runs this site for fun, nostalgia, and the occasional ad break. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. This is a plain-language policy and not legal advice; if you operate this site, have it reviewed by counsel.
Information we collect
- Information you give us. If you subscribe to our newsletter we store your email address. If you post a comment we store the name and comment text you submit.
- Information collected automatically. Like most sites, our servers and tools log your IP address and basic browser/device information, and record which pages you view. When you vote on a list entry we store a random, anonymous token in your browser (not your identity) plus the vote and the request IP, so we can prevent duplicate and automated voting.
- Cookies and local storage. We and our partners use cookies and browser storage for analytics, advertising, bot protection, and to remember site preferences (for example your CRT tune-in setting and your anonymous vote token).
Advertising (Google AdSense)
We show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies (including the DoubleClick/AdSense cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can control personalized advertising in your Google Ad Settings, and learn more at Google's advertising policies and aboutads.info.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (pages viewed, general location, device type). Google processes this data on our behalf; see Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)
Our voting, comment, and newsletter forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to block automated abuse. Turnstile may set a token and collect limited technical signals to tell humans from bots. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
How we use your information
- To operate and improve the site and its content.
- To display advertising, which keeps the lights on.
- To send our newsletter (only if you subscribed).
- To publish and moderate comments, and to prevent spam and automated abuse.
How we share it
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers named above (Google, Cloudflare) so they can perform their functions, and where required by law.
Your choices
- Opt out of personalized ads via your Google Ad Settings.
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in each email, or by emailing us.
- Ask us to delete your email address or a comment you posted by contacting us.
- Manage or clear cookies and local storage in your browser settings.
Data retention
We keep newsletter emails until you unsubscribe, and comments until they are removed. Log and analytics data are retained per our providers' standard periods.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
